Bea

Bea/Béa is a self-taught visual artist and musician who lives, laughs, and loves with her Assyrian artist-writer girlfriend and their cat in “California” on Me-Wuk/Bay Miwok/Muwekma land. She is transgender and has roots in Angadanan, Laoag, and Quezon City. She studied creative writing at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her work has appeared in The Brown Orient, Briarpatch, The Believer, The Washington Post, Heated, Hairstreak Butterfly Review, and more. She aims to explore ancestry, language, eastern colonialism, and the histories and present realities of indigenous communities in the Philippines and worldwide.
